Abstract

Hand calculation techniques used in the design of auxiliary electric power systems are time consuming, tedious and do not provide the engineer with the capability for indepth analyses of proposed system designs. An interactive program has been developed with the capability of performing three- phase short-circuit studies, load-flow studies, motor-start studies, and switchgear/auxiliary transformer impedance optimization studies on electric auxiliary power systems of any complexity. Since this interactive program provides a depth and flexibility of analysis unattainable by hand, the engineer has more time to obtain a greater understanding of the effects of design changes on system performance.
