Abstract

AbstractA simple and facile turn‐on fluorescence sensor has been developed for the effective determination of an important bile pigment‐ Biliverdin (BVD), using ascorbic acid capped copper nanoclusters (AA CuNCs). This yellow colored, biocompatible material exhibits emission maximum at 445 nm on an excitation wavelength of 365 nm. The fluorescence intensity of AA CuNCs was enhanced efficiently in presence of BVD within the linear range 1.00×10−5 M to 2.00×10−6 M with a limit of detection 2.88×10−7 M. An aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) mechanism was suggested for the sensor. Practical utility of the proposed sensor has been validated in artificial urine and blood serum.
