Abstract

Separation of acidic mucopolysaccharides by ascending paper chromatography has been possible in systems of acetate buffer and ethanol. The method will separate 5 to 30 μg mixtures of AMPS. Purified preparations of AMPS will give characteristic migration allowing identification of 2 μg quantities. AMPS from biological sources may be separated after removal of covalently bonded protein and divalent ions.
