Abstract

The changes in the Brazilian rural environment became evidente especially after 1960, as a reflex of a governmente policy of incentive to agriculture and also as a consequence of attitudes taken from the moment of space occupation by man. The transformations will bemirrored not only in the space and production, but also in man's living conditions who in habits and works in such a space. Taking into account such transformations at the nacional level, studies were carried out in the Moji Mirim and Moji Guaçu counties emphasizing the degree of occurred a mechanization in agriculture in them and the problems found for the rural deveIopment to take place. It was verified that, in the analyzed space, the high degree of mechanization was not conducive to the desired rural development.
