Abstract

This text intends to present some reflections on a possible procedure to historical inquiring guide of biographies and photo-biographies as historical sources, and to discuss their relevance to History learning. It was generated to the purpose of students' essays for the Degree of History /Workshop of Contemporary History, oriented by the second author. The assignment was to write a critical analysis of the D. Manuel II's biography (Proenca, 2008**** ), and the photo-biography King d. Carlos's XX century (Vieira, 2008) as secondary historical sources. It also reflects upon authors' public speeches about their process of writing and their pedagogical usefulness
