Abstract

The development of drug eluting stent has been a major advancement in the treatment of coronary artery stenosis, however stent thrombosis and in-stent restenosis remain as its main drawbacks. intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guidance for stent deployment helps to optimize its results in stable patients. The aim of this study was to examine the utility of routine IVUS guidance in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
