Abstract
Sergei Prokofiev’s piano concertos became a significant contribution to the world art. The innovation of the musical language, high technical complexity, original form designs, the complex nature of musical images cause a number of performing and pedagogical problems. Thus, the Second Concerto combines the reliance on the classical traditions and the national Russian flavour. The purpose of the paper is to reveal the artistic and performing features of Prokofiev’s concertos and suggest some pedagogical approaches to studying them in the piano class. Prokofiev in the world musical culture, revealing the innovativeness of the composer’s musical language and finding a way to master it in the piano class, defining the main pedagogical approaches to technical mastery of Prokofiev’s piano concertos are the main tasks of the paper.
