Abstract

On the material of Dostoevsky’s novella “The Double” the analysis of "artistic genderology" of the writer is tested. The focus is laid on the gender dimension of the story. The nature of the relationship between Golyadkin and Klara Olsufyevna allows us to draw conclusions about some features of the genderological ideas of F.M. Dostoevsky at an early stage of his life-term work. Some “genderological discoveries” of the writer are developed in his future works: the story outlines a typical conflict for the writer’s further work, when a man is forced to make a choice between women; the motive for a marriage of convenience is clearly stated; female images, although poorly drawn, are marked as diametrically opposite.
