Abstract

The aim of this work was to analyze the development of tourism through the public policies of regionalization, based on a case study of the Tourism Routes of Minas Gerais, set up by the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR). A theoretical review was therefore carried out, in order to gather information on the object of study, through the role of the state in tourism activity, the formation of public policies for tourism, and planning tools for managing these public policies. Among the major contributions of this article are the description of the formation and organization of tourism routes in Minas Gerais, which are presented as hybrid in terms of the actions of State regionalization. It was also perceived that the decentralization proposed by the current government favors the form of administration and organization of the state public politics on tourism, in the sense of reducing bureaucratic problems and the autonomy of carry out actions in the area of tourism, together with the support of the private sector in the participation of local integrated and sustainable development.
