Artificial long-stem femoral head replacement combined with tension band for the treatment of aged intertrochanteric comminuted fracture

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of artificial long-stem femoral head replacement combined with tension band on intertrochanteric comminuted fracture.Methods Twenty-nine elderly patients with comminuted femoral intertrochanteric fracture underwent operation with artificial long-stem femoral head replacement combined with tension band were choosed.Hip joint function was evaluated postoperatively according to Harris score.Results All patients were followed up for 6-30 months with an average of 18.5 months,X-ray showed no prosthetic loosening or sinking,hip joint function was rated based on Harris score,the excellent rate was 93.1％.Conclusions The artificial long-stem femoral head replacement combined with tension band in the treatment of intertrochanteric comminuted fracture is effective,and can make patients get out of bed earlier,and it can reduce complications,improve patients' life quality.
