Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational sector has revolutionized traditional teaching methods, presenting both opportunities and challenges. While extensive discussions have explored AI's role in general education, its specific applications and implications in Special Education (SE) remain underexplored. This chapter aims to bridge that gap by examining the potential of AI to provide personalized, data-driven support for students with disabilities. We will explore how AI can facilitate early detection of learning disabilities, enhance individualized learning plans, and improve communication between educators and stakeholders. Additionally, we will address the ethical considerations, data privacy issues, and potential biases inherent in AI systems. By offering a balanced view of the promises and pitfalls of AI in SE, this chapter seeks to equip educators, policymakers, and researchers with the knowledge necessary to harness AI responsibly and effectively.
