Abstract

Clinical trials are essential for delivering novel medications, technology, and procedures to the market and clinical practice. Only 10% of these studies complete the entire procedure from the drug design to the four phases of development, because clinical trials are becoming more expensive and difficult to perform. The population's health, standard treatment, health economics, and sustainability suffered greatly from this low completion rate. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the tools that could streamline some of the processes which are the most tedious operations, like patient selection, matching, and enrollment; better patient selection could also minimize harmful treatment and its side effects. The widespread implementation of AI technology in clinical trials still faces many challenges and requires more high-quality prospective clinical validation.
