Kelenjar getah bening juga mempunyai peran untuk menangkal dan melawan bakteri, infeksi, dan virus yang menyerang tubuh. Namun jika getah bening dalam tubuh seseorang mengalami pembesaran atau pembengkakan, justru inilah yang bisa menyebabkan kondisi kesehatan seseorang menurun dan bisa beresiko terhadap munculnya penyakit, seperti penyakit kelenjar getah bening. Infeksi dari virus juga bisa menimbulkan terjadinya pembengkakan kelenjar. Pembengkakan kelenjar getah bening selain jenis yang bisa pulih dengan sendirinya, ternyata ada juga jenis pembengkakan yang tergolong kategori mematikan. Pembengkakan yang tergolong mematikan ini bisa saja.
