Abstract

Preparation of hydroxyapatite protective film on the surface of marble substrate was studied. The metasomatic reaction between monocalcium phosphate solution and marble substrate was explored to prepare hydroxyapatite film. The prepared hydroxyapatite film was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The properties of the hydroxyapatite film were evaluated by color difference, capillary water absorption, adhesion strength and acid resistance test. The results revealed that the hydroxyapatite film had good adhesion strength, compatibility and enough acid resistance and would be promising in the conservation of outdoor marble artworks.
