Abstract

Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can cause severe disease. Rossey et al. (e02279-20) report the isolation and characterization of a llama-derived single-domain antibody (VHH, also known as a nanobody) that potently neutralizes RSV in vitro. This VHH binds specifically to the prefusion conformation of the RSV fusion protein, to a site that is located relatively close to the viral membrane mainly covering antigenic site I.
