Abstract
The present paper explores the name ftk-t / ftk-tA, which wasdescribed and entitled in the pyramid texts as the “Butler or theCupbearer of the Sun God Re” Wdpw Ra. Most Egyptologists do notoffer a specific meaning for this name in their translations of thePyramid Texts. They only refer to it as ftk-t / ftk-tA. The paper aimsat identifying the original meaning and linguistic derivations of thename, as well as recognizing the title and the closest meaning toit in the Pyramid Texts. It also defines its religious role, function,and relationship with the Sun God Re and the deceased king inthe Pyramid Texts.
