Abstract

There is no specific best technique for arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy. Efforts should be made to assure removal of all mechanically significant or nonfunctional tissue with minimal surgical trauma. Instrument selection should be based on the surgeon's preference and the condition of the tissue to be excised. Intraoperative and postoperative problems are usually avoidable if anticipated. With appropriate attention to detail and adherence to traditional sound surgical principles, arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy can be a successful and satisfying procedure.
