Abstract

Arthroscopic Bankart repair has traditionally been performed entirely within the capsule, but this has led to less favorable outcomes than those after open repair, and glenohumeral joint damage may occur in some instances due to the close proximity of suture knots to the articular surface. We describe a modification of standard arthroscopic Bankart repair using double-loaded suture anchors which positions the knots away from outside the shoulder capsule. These extracapsular sutures not only provide excellent anterior stabilization, but also eliminate contact of foreign material with intra-articular structures.
