Abstract

During the last decade, arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis has improved union rate and decreased union time as compared to open arthrodesis. However, there are still a small but significant number of patients who develop nonunion and require additional procedures. This prospective randomized study was designed to investigate whether postoperative use of non-invasive Pulsed Low Intensity Ultrasound results in further enhancement of arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis rate and/or decrease in the arthrodesis time.
