Abstract

Background and Aims: Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) characterizes arterial stiffness is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular complications. The objective of this study was to compare cfPWV in patients with atrial fibrillation(AFib) and healthy individuals and to identify the relationship between arterial stiffness, diastolic function of left ventricle(DFLV) and serum levels of galectin-3(Gal-3), transforming growth factor beta1(TGF-beta1) - substances with profibrogenic effects.
