Abstract

ABSTRACTTotal hip arthroplasty with cementing techniques leads to good clinical outcomes, but critical vascular complications can sometimes occur due to cement leakage into the pelvis. In this report, we describe a case of massive cement leakage that caused an arterial embolism. When exfoliating cement from an artery, the surgeon should note not only direct injury to the vessels but also the potential for arterial embolism.
