Abstract

The composition of essential oil isolated from leaves, stem bark and fruits of Artabotrys oliganthus Engl. & Diels growing wild in Ivory Coast, was investigated by GC (retention indices) and 13C NMR. The oils were found to contain mostly monoterpene hydrocarbons. The composition of leaf and stem bark oil was dominated by Δ-3-carene (60.2 % and 57.2 %, respectively). Conversely, myrcene (59.2 %) was by far the major component of the fruit oil (Δ-3-carene: 16.3 %).
