Art Education in Anthropocene: Art as the Relationship between Humans and Non-Human Beings

Abstract

오늘날 포스트휴먼 시대에 ‘인류세’는 기후 변화에 초점을 두고 인간이 만든 지질 시대로서 현대 사회에서 문제가 되는 새로운 개념이다. 본 연구에서는 인류를 둘러싼 문제로서 인류세 담론을 다루며 예술을 중심으로 인간과 주변 환경, 그 사이의 상호작용을 다루었다. 인류세 담론을 미술교육의 관점에서 다루는 것은 미술교육에서 인간과 사물의 관계 및 연결망, 어셈블리지들이 어떻게 서로 영향을 주고받는가에 대한 관심과 함께 예술 주체로서 ‘인간’의 재인식에 이르게 한다. 다양한 물질과 기호적 힘, 실천들에 주목하며, 관계성의 미학과 제도 등에 의해 약화되어 온 물질, 매체와 오브제 개념 및 그 중요성에 대해 재인식하도록 한다. 인간을 특권화하지 않는 포스트휴머니즘의 접근으로, 관계적 사고와 홀리스틱적 관점에서 예술을 통한 다양한 사고를 함양하도록 한다. 예술은 특정 주체나 객체가 아니라 ‘관계’ 자체의 문제라는 인식에 이르며 근대와 근대성, 사회와 문화, 인간을 보는 제 시각 전체에 대해서 돌아보며 근본적인 자기성찰을 요구하는 것이다.In today’s post-human era, the ‘Anthropocene’ is a man-made geological era with a focus on climate change, a new concept in modern society. This study deals with the Anthropocene discourse as the interaction between humans and their surroundings, focusing on art. In art education, we focus on how human beings and objects relate to each other, assemblies influence each other, and the re-recognition of ‘human’ as artistic entities. Attention is paid to various substances, symbolic forces and practices, and re-recognize materials, media and object concepts and their importance. A post-human approach that does not privilege human beings in relation to natural and social environment, to cultivate various thoughts through related thinking and through art from a holistic approach. It reaches to the perception that art is a matter of relationship itself, not a specific entity or object, and calls for fundamental self-reflection, looking back at modernity, society, culture and the whole view of human beings.
