Abstract

Art counseling is defined, and a survey of historical and theoretical principles in the therapeutic use of art is presented. The procedures of art counseling are stressed, including selection of clients, physical and material requirements, various art tasks, principles of interpretation, and a consideration of possible resistances to the introduction of art. The absence of such an approach in educational settings and the need for descriptive research are noted.
