Abstract

Summary Arson and vandalism are real problems in South Australian schools and in schools across the world. Although some individuals are more likely to be arsonists or vandals, the potential for these school offences is in all of us. Therefore, many different levels of prevention need to be considered which enhance the supervision of school property, the creative use of schools, and the sense of ownership members of the community feel toward the school. Probably the best way to achieve this is to provide the school community with the power and responsibility to do it for themselves.
