Abstract
A V-ridge transmission grating is proposed to realize polarizer under second Bragg incidence. The grating can transmit the energy of TE-polarization light and TM-polarization light to -2nd and 0th orders, respectively. It is found that efficiency of 99.31 % can be reached in -2nd order under TE polarization and 0th order under TM polarization. By finite element method analysis, the grating has the optical characteristics of high efficiency and high extinction ratio. When the grating parameters such as the period and the thickness of the grating layer fluctuate within a certain range, it has few effect on the beam splitting effect and has a good tolerance. The presented V-ridge polarizer can have certain application value for optical fiber communication and laser system.
