Abstract

The spring Governing Council meeting was held in College Park, and progress was made on a number of pending questions of which the following should be of interest to the ESA membership. Following through on revision of the proposed Professional Maintenance and Registration Revalidation Program, the Council endorsed President Sid Kunz's appointment of George L. Teetes to chair a committee to review the proposed program. The committee will rewrite, clarify, or do whatever is necessary to redefine the program so that it can be resubmitted to the membership for approval in 1986. Dick Gorham, Weldon Newton, Bill Clymer and Gary Beland are on the committee. They bring diverse backgrounds that can be used to interpret and respond to some of the complaints. Dr. Kunz had also appointed Marvin L. Harris to chair a special committee on continuing education, with Rich Edwards, John Reinert, Gil Challet, and Bill Showers as members. This committee will compile a list of resources so members can revalidate their certification. Part of the committee's task will be to work out how autotutorial programs currently available at universities (and elsewhere) can be made available to Registry members. The scope of the reosources will not to be limited to entomology, but will encompass management training and other business-related reosources that are also a part of developing an individual's profession.
