Abstract

Aromatic molecules are popular as electron transfer sensitizers. On the other hand, they also easily form excited complexes. The interaction between the excited molecule and a quencher goes through different steps, and the observed chemistry can be referred to different species (apolar or polarized exciplex, radical ion pair, free solvated radical ions).
