Abstract

The wabbler-lethal mouse displays abnormal metabolism of the aromatic amino acids. Phenylalanine hydroxylase activity is depressed while α-ketoglutarate transaminase, tryptophan pyrrolase, and p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic oxidase activities are elevated. In addition, the mutant plasma level of phenylalanine is abnormally high while plasma tyrosine and tryptophan levels are abnormally low.
