Abstract
In field tests, the known sex pheromone component, ( Z )-11-hexadecen-1-ol acetate (Z11-16:Ac), alone elicited good trap catches of male Pseudaletia unipuncta . Contrary to a published report, addition of trace amounts of ( Z )-11-hexadecen-1-ol to Z11-16-Ac did not increase trap catch. Likewise, addition of other components found in the extract of the sex pheromone gland, or compounds known to evoke a strong electroantennogram response did not increase trap catch. Addition of ( Z )-7-dodecen-1-ol acetate or ( Z )-9-tetradecen-1-ol acetate decreased trap catch.
