Abstract

Two Armillaria isolates from the highlands of central Papua New Guinea were fruited in culture. Monospore isolates were made from the fruit bodies. Crossings between monospore isolates from a same fruit body gave results indicative of heterothallism and tetrapolarity. In mating tests with the haploid testers of Australian Armillaria species the monospore isolates were compatible with testers of the species of A. novae-zelandiae.
