Abstract

This article aims to deal with the multidegree of freedom (MDOF) of the armature moving in the barrel of a synchronous induction coil launcher (SICL). Based on the analysis of only three degree-of-freedom motions, kinetic equations of the armature are derived theoretically. Then, the finite-element simulation software is used to simulate the MDOF motion of armature in the barrel. According to the theoretical calculation and simulation results, the armature can suspend in the SICL due to the radial force, which confirms that it has a character of self-suspension in the barrel.
