Abstract

This paper presents an armature reaction magnetic field and inductance of tubular linear synchronous machines with axially magnetized permanent magnets, accounting for the flux-passing iron pole effect. The armature reaction field can be derived using a subdomain model and boundary conditions. On the basis of the obtained armature reaction field solution, the inductance can also be derived. Analytical results for the flux density distribution, as compared with the one-dimensional permeance method, are validated extensively with the results of finite element analysis (FEA). The validity of the analytical method presented in this paper is verified by comparing it with the results of the FEA and an experiment.
