Abstract
The article proposes a textual revision of Poet. 1459A37-B7 in light of the manuscript tradition and a comparative analysis of other witnesses to the same theme, namely the archaic Greek epic. The result is a reconstruction of this passage of the Poetics, formerly considered in a hypercritical perspective. An attempt is also made to recuperate the documentary value of the passage with regard to the epic cycle, on which Aristotle makes an authorised but unkind judgment.
