Abstract

International studies is defined as research and teaching about other countries or regions. It is divided into those that are concerned with single countries or regions—area studies and risk analysis—and those that cross national lines—comparative studies, international relations and foreign policy analysis, security studies, peace studies, conflict resolution, and international political economy studies. The history, organization, and funding of each specialty is examined.
