Abstract

The elasticity and flexibility of a silicalite-1 film grown on a metglas ribbon is demonstrated. Adsorption of n-hexane induces “swelling” of the zeolite film, which causes the bending of the ribbon. The deformation is reversible, repeatable, and its magnitude depends on the adsorbed organic vapor.
