Abstract
This paper sets forth five principles in operationalizing and mainstreaming gender inclusiveness in land and legal documents in Ghana. In addition to the documentary reviews, 30 experts in land policy analysis, gender and legal affairs were interviewed concerning their perspectives on gender inclusivity in land policies in Ghana. The study used the general land and legal documents as the guiding framework in operationalizing gender inclusivity. The documents were evaluated to determine how well they incorporate gender issues in their design and implementation. Findings suggest that while there exists a nuanced understanding of gender inclusivity among land, gender and legal experts, policy has shown limited understanding and mainstreaming of gender inclusivity. As a result, the documents and legal instruments guiding the regulation of land in Ghana do not explicitly promote gender inclusivity, although it does so implicitly. Recommendations for ensuring gender inclusiveness in land policy were tendered.
