Abstract
Parischnogaster alternata, a stenogastrine wasp of South East Asia, nests in clusters of colonies. Evidence from behavioural observations, predation rates by a tropical hornet and nest disposition in a cluster of 307 colonies supports the selfish-herd theory of group formation.
