Abstract

By comparing with the experimentally determined amplitudes for $\ensuremath{\pi}N$ scattering at 6 GeV/c and $|t|\ensuremath{\lesssim}1$ ${(\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}/\mathit{c})}^{2}$, we show that the Barger-Phillips Regge amplitudes are related to optical-model amplitudes by a simple rotation. This demonstrates an important connection between a dynamical model and an essentially geometric one.
