Abstract

Background: Approximately 1 in 5 teen births is a repeat birth. Only about 1 in 5 teen mothers use the most effective contraceptive methods. The prenatal and postpartum periods provide opportunities to counsel on and provide effective birth control methods respectively. We hypothesized that adolescents were more likely to diverge from contraceptive plans stated prenatally compared to adult patients.
