Methods: In order to evaluate adherence to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) current guideline of chemo-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) at our institution, we retrospectively assessed 139 chemotherapy infusion charts of 105 consecutive patients who received emetogenic chemotherapy at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Results: We observed 78% of non-adherence rate to ASCO guideline. The main causes for non-adherence were the prescription of higher doses of dexamethasone and the inappropriate higher use of 5-HT3 antagonist for low emetogenic risk chemotherapy regimens.
