Abstract

For-profit eye banks have been advocated because they stimulate innovation and improve the quantity and quality of corneal tissue. The claims of for-profit eye banks do not stand up to scrutiny and promote discord in the recovery and distribution field. Commercialization can adversely affect public perception of corneal donation.
