Abstract

Observational investigations and theoretical studies lead to various overall schemes of the space distribution of galaxies. The existence of individual clusters as typical features in the Universe is only one of many possibilities. After final tarification concerning how galaxies are distributed in the neighborhood of our Supergalaxy and at extreme distances from us, a closer approach to the solution of the overall evolution of matter distribution in the Universe could be obtained. This is one of the basic problems of Cosmology. A short history of problems, some philosophical questions connected with the notion of an “individual”, as Well as additional difficulties caused by the presence of dark obscuring matter are presented. Three main possible ways of solving the problem are discussed.
