Abstract

In 1975, the Society of American Archivists, recognizing the need for archivists to seek a new variety of clientele, established the Committee on the Wider Use of Archives. Openly espousing the position that experience with history-inthe-raw is everyone's right, the committee has lobbied successfully for an increasing number of annual meeting sessions devoted to such activities as archival education, exhibit techniques for documents, publications, and multimedia presentations of archival theories and materials.
