Abstract

Architecture.
The article deals with the reconstruction of public buildings built in the 1960s and 1980s, using the experience of the reconstruction of the Yunist Hotel in Odessa. The main architectural techniques and means for carrying out such reconstruction are defined (compliance with modern technological requirements; preservation of the artistic image and harmonious relation to the surrounding environment). Examples of the application of these principles during the reconstruction of the Hotel "Yunist" in Odessa, which was carried out in 2017-2020, are given. General architectural and technological solutions and means are determined, as well as the main constructive solutions used in the reconstruction.
Public buildings in Ukraine, which were built in the period of approximately 60-80s of the 20th century. are currently still actively used and have a fairly significant percentage in the general urban development fund. Of course, in the time that has passed, functional requirements have been updated, new technological solutions and engineering capabilities and equipment have appeared, in particular for hotels of various degrees of comfort. Therefore, the reconstruction of public buildings and, in particular, hotels, is currently of great importance for architectural and construction processes. Currently, the importance of such reconstruction measures increases due to the destruction that our cities suffered during military operations. One of the main issues that is resolved during such transformations is the need to preserve the building as such, or demolish it with subsequent new construction on this site. In each specific case, the decision is individual, but the experience of the reconstruction of the «Yunist» hotel in Odesa has shown that the reconstruction while preserving the main function of the building is quite profitable from an economic point of view.
The purpose of the publication is to shed light on the architectural solutions and methods used in the reconstruction of the Yunist hotel building in Odessa. On the example of this reconstruction, the general principles for the renovation of public buildings, which were built in the 60s and 80s of the 20th century, were revealed. The main goal of the reconstruction of hotel buildings is to increase the level of comfort in accordance with modern requirements. The publication also reveals the main architectural and planning parameters and requirements that were ensured during the design of the reconstruction of the "Youth" hotel in Odesa, in particular compliance with modern fire safety rules.
