Abstract

Rigid bar and pantographs are used to power electric railway vehicles. When operating an electric railway vehicle, Rigid bar and pantographs are unstable in contact and occurs Arc. It is the cause of breakdown and accident. In this paper, a contact loss simulator for a rigid bar system was designed and the characteristic of arc is analyzed. Especially, occurrence of arc due to the excitation frequency is analyzed because the excitation frequency is generated by impact between current collector of the railway vehicle and R-bar.
