Abstract

Feature Issue on Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) For optical wireless laser transmissions we take advantage of a specific comblike structure of the spectrum of mode-locked laser ultrashort pulse trains and present a pulse-shaping technique for arbitrary waveform synthesis. The shaped pulses are free of space-time coupling effects and high-order spatial modes. As examples, we provide simulation results for the synthesis of waveforms that are of particular interest for optical communications, namely, square-root-raised cosines and Meyer wavelets.
