Abstract

This paper describes a suitable sign translator system that can be used for Arabic hearing impaired and any Arabic Sign Language (ArSL) users as well. The proposed system makes use of an automatic Arabic Speech Recognition module (ASR) integrated with Arabic Signer model to generate the ArSL signs. It translates from Arabic speech recognition (ASR) into ArSL. Therefore, the paper describes technologies for generating 3D Avatar signers from the Arabic speech recognition engine. The 3D avatar is based on character behaviours and gestures used by ArSL users. Consequently, sign language translator and the 3D avatar technology are used to sign the Arabic text script produced from the Arabic automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine. Therefore, the Arabic Text-to-Sign (ArTTS) translation is the goal of this paper. The machine translation with a set of transformational rules and language model with linguistic background used throughout our work will be described according to the model used for the proposed system.A typical presentation is developed to establish the values of the proposed solution. Experimental results show that the proposed ArTTS technique has a sign detection rate of 85 %.
