Abstract
The title molecule, [Co2(C8H7O2)4(C12H8N2)2(H2O)], is a dinuclear CoII complex which is located on a twofold symmetry axis. Each CoII ion is six-coordinated by three O atoms of different phenylacetate ligands, two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one O atom of a water molecule, giving a distorted octahedral geometry. The two CoII atoms are bridged by two phenylacetate groups and the water molecule lying on the twofold axis. The Co⋯Co distance is 3.553 (2) A. A one-dimensional supramolecular chain is constructed by π–π stacking interactions between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline molecules.
