Abstract

AQQAD is a new computer program was developed by us at the Nuclear Safety and Radioprotection Division (DSNR) within the Nuclear Research Centre of Birine (CRNB). It is a program written in Pascal language for the purpose of a Probabilistic Risk and reliability Assessment. The program allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of AND/OR logic trees containing up to 150 basic events and up to 150 logic gates and has been designed to handle small fault trees. It generates the Minimal Cut Sets by boolean reduction using the bottom-up substitution and the tree reduction is based on the Quine & Mc Cluskey method using the truth tables. Component point unavailability is used to calculate the unavailability of each MCS and finally the top event unavailability is calculated by summing over the MCS’s unavailabilities. The program also, calculates the Fussel-Vesely importance of components.
